Thermo Wrap Cabinets

Using heat the vinyl is fused to a wooden surface usually particleboard.

The result is a kitchen cabinet with a smooth seamless finish. High pressure and an adhesive on the bottom side of the vinyl fuse the vinyl to the surface. Well the term stands for medium density fiber board. Thermofoil cabinets are made with a large vacuum press.

These doors are easy to clean durable and will keep their color long after painted wood doors have started to fade. Mdf and vinyl wrapped doors are both the same as thermofoil cabinetry doors. To apply the surfacing cabinet pieces made of wood or mdf are placed into a large flat tray. Thermofoil cabinet doors look and feel very similar to finished cabinet doors.

What is an mdf door. The tray is fed into a large machine where a thin malleable layer of foil like material is heated and then vacuum sealed onto the surface. A flexible layer of solid color 100 percent vinyl is laid on top of that. Thermofoil often called rigid thermal foil or rtf is comprised of a durable vinyl.

Thermofoil cabinets are made using a flexible vinyl material that is applied by heating the vinyl and molding it over medium density fiberboard mdf or engineered wood. The top is closed and then air is expelled from the chamber. Thermofoil is most often seen in white or off white although some manufacturers offer a variety of colors and even faux wood finishes. Cabinet door and drawer bases are laid in the press.

When refereed to by cabinet makers it means a vinyl wrapped door. Thermofoil is the most affordable of the three options.
